Coaches Codes of Conduct

​

In addition to Netball Australia's General Code of Behaviour the TNC Coach’s Code of Conduct is a positive document for all coaches. It affirms a coach’s support for the concepts of responsibility, trust, competence, respect, safety, honesty, professionalism, equity and sportsmanship.

 

Accreditation & Professional Development

All club coaches are required to be an accredited SDNA Foundation Coach.  This must be completed prior to the commencement of the season and completed online using the SDNA MyNetball portal login.

 

Coaching Excellence & Goals

  • Help each person (player, official, etc.) to reach their potential.  Respect the talent, developmental stage and goals of each person and encourage them with positive and constructive feedback.

  • Encourage & Support opportunities for learning & participation in all aspects of the sport.

  • Treat each player as an individual.

  • Obtain appropriate qualifications and keep up to date with the latest coaching practices and the principles of growth and development of players.

  • Provide a supportive but firm coaching environment where our team develops a strong bond, our players form friendships and look forward to and be enthusiastic about netball.

 

Honour the sport

  • Act within the rules and spirit of your sport and promote fair play & respect over winning.

  • Respect the decisions of officials, umpires, coaches and administrators.

 

1.1.5Integrity & Respect

  • Place the safety and welfare of the players above all else

  • Act with integrity and objectivity and accept responsibility for your decisions and actions.

  • Ensure your decisions and actions contribute to a harassment-free environment.

  • Ensure that any physical contact with another person is appropriate to the situation and necessary for the person's skill development.

  • Be honest and do not allow your qualifications or coaching experience to be misrepresented.

  • Never advocate or condone the use of illicit drugs or other banned performance enhancing substances or methods.

  • Respect the rights and worth of every person, regardless of their age, race, gender, ability, cultural background, sexuality or religion.

  • Do not tolerate abusive, bullying or threatening behaviour.

 

Our club is affiliated with the Southern Districts Netball Association (SDNA) and endeavor to abide by their Policies & Procedures as stated in the SDNA Manual and the Netball WA Member Protection Policy and are to be used in conjunction with these guidelines.
